When we understand Who God is, then we cannot help but love and obey Him. Today, we’re diving into one of God’s key attributes…omnipresence. Omnipresence means that God is present everywhere at all times. How does this impact our lives?
Here are 4 truths about how God’s omnipresence transforms our lives.
1. He exists throughout the universe.
“Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord.”
Jeremiah 23:24
As humans, it’s hard to us to understand how God could be present in both the North Pole and Tel Aviv, Israel at the same time. Even more difficult is understanding how He fills the entire universe. Jupiter, Saturn, and the entire solar system are mere dust under His feet.
Though many people go through life blinded to His presence, He fills Heaven and Earth. Nothing happens without His knowledge or presence. For the Christian, this is a comforting truth!
2. He will not leave us or forsake us.
“If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.”
Psalm 139:9-10
In Psalm 139, David poetically describes God’s omnipresence. He realized that God was always present with him. Even in the most remote corners of the planet, God’s hand would lead him and protect him.
If you have believed in Jesus as your Saviour, know that He will always be with you. You can trust Him. At the local church’s prison ministries in Saskatchewan, we are glad that God will always be with us!
3. He may feel distant if we have unconfessed sin.
“If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:”
Psalm 66:18
But what if you are a Christian and feel like God seems far away? According to this verse, you will not be close to God if you have unconfessed sin in your life. Sin drives a wedge between you and God.
If you want to be close to God, learn to confess sin as soon as you feel the Holy Spirit’s conviction. He will forgive you, and you can enjoy fellowship with Him again!
4. He knows us better than we know ourselves.
“For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.”
Psalm 139:4
Sometimes even we don’t understand why we do what we do. But, we can take heart in the fact that God understands us. He knows how we are feeling and understands our challenges. Hebrews 4:15 explains, “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” Jesus knows us fully, and He is right by our side to help us each day.
